Barbara June Turn
Barbara June Turn was born on the family farm near Kennedy, MN to Elmer and Inga Turn on June 21, 1930.
Barb had one brother, Leroy Turn and four sisters, Betty Wolf, Phyllis Pulkrabek, Kay Dostal, and Linda Johnson.
Barb graduated from Kennedy High School. She worked at the Homestead Café in Karlstad, MN and that is where she met Alvin Oertwich. They were engaged on June 8, 1949. They were united in marriage on November 21, 1949 at the parsonage in Kennedy, MN. They made their first home in Karlstad. In 1960 they moved to Fertile, MN.
Throughout the years Barb was a homemaker, in the fall she would work in the potato fields, she was employed at the Top Notch Restaurant in Fertile, and then as a laundry aide at Fair Meadow Nursing Home. She is a member of Concordia Church in Fertile. She enjoyed preparing food and working at the Concordia Food Stand during the Polk County Fair in Fertile.
Alvin and Barb had three children, Mark (Janeen) of Grand Forks, ND, Wayne (Julie) of Crookston, MN, and Nancy (Kermit) Burslie. She has seven grandchildren, Chris and Steve Burslie, Mike, Scott, Ashley, Dustin Oertwich, and Kyle Oertwich. She also has 11 great grandchildren.
Barb enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and making crafts. She enjoyed visiting with friends, neighbors, relatives, and especially with her family.
